In the last two years, AMSOIL has introduced more new products and made more technical advances than during any other period in the company’s storied 33-year history. AMSOIL now provides engine oils for nearly every application, multiple gear oils, greases, fuel additives and appearance products. To offer a more wellrounded selection of automotive products, AMSOIL also offers high quality
products from other manufacturers such as BOSCH. Recently, AMSOIL’s focus has been on the filtration market. The recently launched Ea Filter line includes the finest filtration products in the world for the auto/light truck market, and Donaldson covers the heavy-duty market. To complement the Ea line of filters, AMSOIL now offers WIX filters, allowing one-stop shopping for automotive customers. AMSOIL will carry over 700 WIX air, oil, fuel, racing and transmission filters for automotive and light truck applications.

A History of Excellence
WIX is well-known around the world for its innovative filtration products for the automotive and light truck market. Founded in 1939, the Gastonia, N.C., company
earned acclaim during World War II when it created an oil filter out of a paper tube, wooden plugs and yarn when steel was in short supply. In 1954 WIX created the revolutionary spin-on oil filter that was eventually adopted as original equipment on most vehicles.

Today WIX manufactures some of the best air, lube, cabin air, fuel crank case breather and transmission filtration products on the market. The company is also widely known for its support of NASCAR.

Superior Construction
WIX oil filters have a full metal base plate for superior strength at the double seal. They also feature a silicone anti-drainback valve that stays flexible in extreme temperatures. This improves oil flow and keeps oil in the filter to prevent dry starts.

WIX oil filters use an up-front by-pass valve. This design is superior to top-mounted valves because it helps to keep oil from washing past dirty media and entering the engine. The glass-enhanced media in WIX oil filters offers greater efficiency, capturing more 10 to 12 micron sized particles than other cellulose/synthetic blend medias. They also have a coil steel spring to ensure internal filter parts are sealed properly.

WIX panel element air filters have a linear path through the filter for low airflow restriction, a specially formulated adhesive to form WIX’s exclusive pocket pleat for the filter media and a soft sealing urethane gasket molded in place on the filter element.

Radial air filters are constructed of mesh screen on the inside wall diameter for element strength and media protection from backfire. Each round filter is manufactured with heat-resistant plastisol with specially designed crush seals on the top and bottom walls and adhesive seal joining the media ends. Additional Filtration Products AMSOIL offers WIX filtration products for auto/light truck and racing applications. This includes not only standard air and oil filters, but fuel, transmission, cabin air and filters specially designed for racing as well.

Fuel Filters
WIX fuel filters provide unmatched fuel cleansing performance. They prevent pump wear, injector clogging, premature engine wear and help boost fuel efficiency. WIX fuel filters offer quick, easy filter replacement, long life and the possibility of extended service intervals. WIX spin-on filters reduce the possibility of improperly installed cover gaskets, and they provide effective, easy draining of excess water on filters equipped with the drain plug. The superior materials, design and construction of WIX fuel filters provide excellent performance under all types of operating conditions.

Transmission Filters
AMSOIL will also offer the full line of industry-leading WIX transmission filters for passenger cars and light trucks. WIX transmission filters provide superior protection for many transmission applications in the auto/light truck market.

Cabin Air Filters
AMSOIL now carries the entire WIX line of high-efficiency cabin interior air filters for passenger cars and light trucks. See Cabin Air Filter Installations (2MB PDF)

Additional Information
WIX filters are supplemental to AMSOIL Ea filters, but now AMSOIL will offers WIX filtration products that cross to an Ea filter. With the exception of WIX lube filters, all WIX filters should be changed in accordance with original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM) recommendations. WIX lube filter change intervals are extended OEM recommendations to match the drain intervals of AMSOIL XL Motor oil. To find the correct filter for your application, consult the Online Product Application Guide.

WIX Racing Filters
AMSOIL is carrying WIX racing filters in addition to filters for more common automotive and light truck applications. WIX has been a part of racing and
NASCAR for many years, both as a sponsor and in the race cars. The company’s long-standing relationship with NASCAR not only demonstrates that WIX filters are high-quality products, but it also shows WIX’s dedication to racing, making it a perfect match for AMSOIL.

WIX is an associate sponsor of the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 car driven by 2000 Winston Cup Champion Bobby Labonte in the Nextel Cup Series. WIX is also an air filter contingency sponsor in the NASCAR contingency sponsorship program, awarding cash prizes to WIX-sponsored drivers in the Nextel Cup, Busch Grand National, Craftsman Truck, Winston West and Busch North Series that finish in first, second or third place.

WIX also sponsors Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 car driven by 2005 Nextel Cup Champion Tony Stewart, along with Richard Childress Racing, Bill Davis Racing, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., Evernham Motorsports, Hendrick Motorsports, Roush Racing
and Robert Yates Racing in NASCAR’s Nextel Cup Series.

WIX racing filters are specially designed for racing applications and are not intended for normal driving applications. AMSOIL will carry all WIX racing filters, which includes 10 oil, 14 air and 2 fuel filters.

Ford POWERSTROKE Diesel Owners

We are Powerstroke Diesel engine, powertrain and chassis experts and are here to help you achieve optimum performance and longevity from your truck.

You've spent your hard earned money on the Ford Powerstroke Diesel option in one of the most popular and best engineered trucks there is, now don't you think you owe it to yourself to use the very best oil in it?  And don't let your local dealership service center tell you that you you have to use their brand of oil to "maintain your warranty". That is a false statement by the dealership, yet it goes on day in and day out. We constantly receive calls from customers that were told this by their servicing dealership. This practice is not authorized or condoned by the auto manufacturers, but the fact is it still goes on.

How a servicing dealership can essentially tell a customer that they have to use a lower quality oil to "maintain their warranty" is not only wrong but it is also illegal unless they provide it free of charge. There are Federal laws that protect you against this.  Please read our Warranty Laws You Need to Know section of this website to learn more.

In a recent  Lubricants World Magazine interview the president of a major national quick lube chain (which is owned by a major petroleum oil company) states that if they can get customers to shorten their drain intervals by 100 miles it would mean an additional $20 million in revenue for the company per year and if they can get consumers to do one more oil change per year it would mean $294 million for the oil change alone and $441 million in revenue when they include ancillary products and services that go along with the oil change. In fact, the president of the quick lube chain openly admits that the bottom line is profits. The shorter the drain interval the more money the quick lube makes. It is our opinion that they would be more profitable by promoting and installing AMSOIL  extended drain interval synthetic motor oil. It appears that the short drain interval petroleum oils they promote are good at assuring that customers will be back for another oil change in a relatively short period of time.

Take a look at the varnish deposits in this picture. These are the results of a severe high temperature deposit test.  The one at the far right is AMSOIL Synthetic 15W-40 Diesel oil and the others are major brand petroleum diesel oils. (left to right: Chevron Delo 400, Cummins Premium Blue, Shell Rotella T, AMSOIL (15W-40). The test clearly shows that AMSOIL keeps engines cleaner longer than other major brand diesel oils do. Which oil would you rather have protecting your engine?

We are here to help you learn the facts and show you how you can use AMSOIL motor oil and get a superior product and also increase the  performance and add to the longevity of your Ford Powerstroke Diesel plus save time and money. The Powerstroke Diesel is an excellent vehicle and exceptionally well engineered by Ford Motor Company and International.  In our opinion it is one of the best vehicles ever produced, however there are ways to make the performance and longevity even better with AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants.

Synthetic Oil Proven to Prevent Turbocharger Bearing Seizure

One of the many specific areas on a turbocharged engine, such as the Powerstroke Diesel  which can clearly benefit from the use of synthetic motor oil is the turbocharger.  When a turbocharged engine is shut off immediately after a high speed run, "heat soak" occurs from the engine, and it considerably increases the temperature in the turbocharger.  Over a period of time this can lead to deposits that can block the oil flow to the turbocharger bearings, leading to turbocharger seizure.  Synthetic engine oils that are inherently more thermally stable than petroleum engine oils have been shown to keep turbochargers considerably cleaner than petroleum engine oils.  A poor petroleum oil will give turbocharger seizure, caused by blocked oilways, in under 100 hours of a severe "heat soak" test cycle.  A good petroleum oil will survive for 100 hours but with considerable deposits and incipient blocking. A good synthetic oil will maintain the turbocharger in almost "as fitted" condition.  Read on to learn the many more ways in which your Powerstroke  Diesel/ Ford Diesel can benefit from synthetic oil.

Current recommended practice is to change your oil every 3000-5000 miles with petroleum based oil as well as with some other brands of synthetic oils. This is completely unnecessary with the AMSOIL technology that is available today, and has been available since 1972. The auto companies all know about AMSOIL but do not promote it because it is often perceived that it can potentially cause them lost profits in service work, parts sales, quick lube oil changes and on a long term basis, regular repeat vehicle sales since engines, transmissions and differentials have been proven to last longer with AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants. Several dealerships we have visited stated that they like to keep customers coming in every 3000 miles so they can look the vehicle over and possibly find other components that they can service.

The "3000 mile oil change" is, in our opinion, completely unnecessary.  Many of the same companies that continue to recommend the "3000 mile oil change" in the U.S. currently manufacture and/or recommend, and have for many years, 12,000-18,000 mile synthetic oil changes in Europe. In fact Europe's goal is to reach 30,000 mile oil change intervals in the near future.

It is also our opinion that the people that run the quick lubes and service centers are there to make profits by seeing you on a regular basis. We know this because we have tried to get some of the quick lubes and dealership service centers to carry AMSOIL extended drain interval gas engine oil (25,000 miles/1-year and 35,000 miles/1-year with the 0W-30) and get the standard response that they know it is an excellent product but if they install it they cannot keep customers coming back as often. AMSOIL then tailored a special top quality reduced mileage extended drain interval oil  (called XL7500) of 7500 miles for gas engine vehicles for the quick lubes so they can keep customers coming back but still give them added convenience of extended drains intervals. This has proven to be an excellent program for all involved.

In addition, many auto and equipment companies have tested AMSOIL and know how good it is and many OEM auto engineers we work with even use it in their own vehicles but we believe they will not use it in production for "political reasons". In fact, we first learned about AMSOIL many years ago when it was determined that a major OEM factory race team uses AMSOIL, yet advertises another manufacturers brand of oil under a sponsorship program.

It is our opinion that oil companies need to sell large volumes of oil and auto companies want your engine and powertrain to have somewhat of a finite life. Enough life so that you are a very satisfied and happy customer and will come back and buy another one yet not so long that you won't need to buy another vehicle for a long time.  Petroleum oil appears to accomplish both objectives. For the last 33 years, AMSOIL has been proven by hundreds of of millions of miles of over the road testing as well as industry standard laboratory ASTM testing to allow vehicles and equipment to perform better and last longer than vehicles using petroleum oil.

The fact is that if every vehicle in the U.S. used AMSOIL that oil usage and waste oil would be reduced by over 80%!  Just imagine the money saved and the positive environmental benefits, not to mention the improved wear protection provided by AMSOIL synthetic lubricants. Plus the fuel savings alone would amount to 3.66 billion gallons of fuel yearly and this is based on 1998 data, the last year Domestic Fuel Consumption data is available from the government. Now, with those hard facts in-hand I find it hard to believe the auto companies are not taking action to go100% synthetic on all lubricants in production vehicles.

I have an article of an AMSOIL user with 731,000 miles on his 1993 Ford Aerostar on the original engine and transmission. He was using AMSOIL from the beginning. This type of mileage is not uncommon when using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants.  Now, what do you think would happen it everybody used AMSOIL and got that much mileage on their vehicles? The auto companies like to hear reports of stuff like this on a small time basis but not on a large scale as it could have major negative economic implications.

Nobody in the business of selling 3000 mile petroleum oil changes and repairing vehicles is going to tell you how to extend your drain intervals using AMSOIL technology and drastically reduce the rate of internal wear and they know very little, if anything, about the technical and engineering aspects of lubrication, filtration and oil analysis science.

Simply changing your oil more often with petroleum oil will not give you all the benefits that AMSOIL offers:  You will not get improved fuel economy, you will not get reduced engine wear, you will not get reduced operating temperatures, you will not get extended drain intervals and you will not save money in the long run.  Please, allow us to show you a better way. We are here to help you. You have everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose.

AMSOIL has been in business since 1972 and was the first company in the world to develop an API (Automotive Petroleum Institute) rated synthetic lubricant for automotive applications.  They coined the phrase "extended drain intervals" 30 years ago and have been on the leading edge of technology and innovation ever since then. We have many satisfied customers using AMSOIL products in both their commercial, trucking, fleet as well as personal, family and recreational vehicles. We hope you will allow us to show you a proven better way.  We are here to help you and are at your service to assist you in your advanced technology lubrication and filtration needs.

Specifically for the Ford Powerstroke Diesel AMSOIL engineers and manufactures a 15W-40 Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel Oil (as well as Series 3000 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Synthetic) that when used in conjunction with the AMSOIL Eao-99 engine oil filter (7.3L) will allow you to travel 25,000 miles/1-year between filter changes and 25,000 miles/1-year between oil changes for normal duty service  If you use oil analysis you can usually go longer than 25,000 miles.  Other AMSOIL benefits include reduced sludge and deposit formation, extreme temperature protection, improved fuel efficiency and rust and corrosion prevention and it does not void any new vehicle warranty. AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants meet and exceed all API rated and Ford specifications.

The other option is to install an AMSOIL Dual Remote By-Pass Filtration System.  With this system you only change your oil when oil analysis indicates.  The AMSOIL Ea full flow filter is changed at 25,000 mile intervals and the by-pass filter is changed at approximately 25,000 miles for normal duty service.   The AMSOIL 15W-40 Synthetic Heavy Duty Oil  or the Series 3000 5W-30 HDD does not break down like conventional petroleum based motor oils, is much more shear stable and does not have the waxes, paraffins and by-products that come out of crude oil that is pumped from the earth.

The by-pass filter removes the particles that cause wear in your engine down to less than one micron (a micron equals 0.001 mm) and keeps the engine oil analytically clean so you do not need to change your oil for a long time, while still getting far better protection than someone that changes their oil every 3000 miles. We are experienced at installing these units on Powerstroke Diesels (and all vehicles) and can provide you with exact installation instructions, tips, bracket prints and photographs.

For example, one of the Powerstroke Diesels in our Dealer Group had over 87,000 miles on the same AMSOIL 15W-40 Synthetic Diesel Oil prior to changing to the AMSOIL Series 3000 5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil.  Laboratory oil chemical analysis every 15-20,000 miles indicates the oil is perfectly suitable for continued service. Other customers have traveled well over 100,000 miles and oil analysis still indicates no oil change necessary.  I will mail you a copy of vehicle #3's oil analysis results with your product and technical  information package so you can see the data for yourself. In addition, the AMSOIL By-Pass filter will also remove up to a pint of water from your vehicle's lubrication system, which is especially important in a diesel engine.  Without this the water promotes rust, corrosion and rapid wear. Internal engine heat also creates acids which also wear the engine components.  The water and acids build and continue to work destroying your engine even after engine shutdown.

Oil analysis provides a big return for your small investment by extending equipment life by preventing premature component failure, reducing maintenance costs by eliminating unnecessary component changes and a decrease in downtime due to premature scheduled maintenance as well enabling calculation of optimum drain intervals that will reduce lubricant costs and assure maximum equipment protection.

Your regular full flow engine oil filter will only remove wear particles down to the 20-25 micron range.  The filter cannot remove finer particles because the oil must be filtered quickly while removing most of the particles present in the oil, except the particles below the 20 micron range.  A study completed by Federal Mogul Corp. analyzing over 7000 main and connecting rod bearings concluded that 60% of all engine wear occurs in the 5-20 micron range.  This is why no matter how much you change your current full flow oil and filter, regardless of brand, that you still are not removing the particles that cause the greatest wear in your engine.

If you choose not to install the Dual Remote or Single By-Pass filtration system then the AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter would be of a significant benefit to the long term durability of your engine as well as allowing for 25,000 miles of service on the filter and 25,000 miles/1-year on the oil.

Ea Oil Filters feature advanced full synthetic nanofiber technology, making them the highest efficiency filters that are available for the auto/light truck market. They have an absolute efficiency rating of 98.7% at 15 microns and 50% at 7 microns.

AMSOIL Introduces World’s First Oil Filter Cartridge for Diesel Applications with Nanofiber Technology.

AMSOIL INC. of Superior, WI has introduced a new premium, high efficiency cartridge oil filter utilizing nanofiber technology for Ford 6.0L diesel engines ranging from 2003 to 2006. The new EaO-88 is the world’s first oil filter cartridge for diesel applications using advanced submicron full synthetic media. The EaO-88 provides an efficiency of 98.7% at 16 microns, significantly higher than the OEM filter.

The rigid construction of this filter is due to a polymeric center tube and end caps, along with its proprietary composition incorporating special grade nanofiber synthetic media, enabling the filter to last up to 1 year or 25,000 miles when used in conjunction with AMSOIL synthetic motor oil. Because of its improved oil flow, an additional benefit of this synthetic filter media is that oil is delivered to key engine components quicker, thus enhancing the lubrication process during cold weather starts.

Benefits include:

  • Superior filtration efficiency
  • Excellent flow characteristics
  • Reduced engine wear
  • Rugged and durable design

Fast Fact:  A nanofiber is less than one micron in diameter.  A human hair is 80 microns.
