Any questions about becoming a dealer, Preferred Customer, or setting up a Retail or Commercial account.

Due to AMSOIL policy, I cannot tell you all of the "special" benefits you will get from joining our group, to find out those you need to shoot me an e-mail, or give me a call.  I can tell you though that by joining our group, you will be joining one of the largest AMSOIL dealer groups out there.  This puts you in contact with some of the most knowledgeable dealers out there, including automotive engineers.  You will not find this kind of help with any other group.

If you do not plan on selling AMSOIL, and just want to purchase AMSOIL products, including AGGRAND, and ALTRUM, for your personal use, then a Preferred Customer account is the option you would want to go with.  The Preferred Customer account allows you to buy AMSOIL at the same price that a dealer can get it for.

If you later decide that you do want to sell products, you can upgrade your Preferred Customer account to a dealership.

It sounds like you have a retail store, and are actually wanting a ROTS(Retail On The Shelf) account.  This allows you to purchase AMSOIL at wholesale, and sell it in your store.

This is often a confusing point to a lot of people, since this is normally referred to as a dealership in the retail world.  However, an AMSOIL dealer is actually an individual, or couple who sell AMSOIL products, and can set up Retail accounts; like yours.  The main difference is that a Dealer can sponsor other Dealers.  If you do wish to be a dealer then please visit this page, and click register where it says "Become an AMSOIL Dealer." Your sponsor number is 1126678, make sure you have this number, otherwise you will get randomly assigned to some other dealer, who might not be as knowledgeable, or helpful.  If you have any questions, be sure and contact us!

Questions and Answers related to Oil Analysis

The reason you would still want to have an analysis done is so you can tell what condition your oil, and indirectly, your engine is in.  If you simply drain and replace the oil, you have no idea of the condition of the engine.

For instance, oil analysis can alert you to problems before they become major issues, often time allowing you to schedule downtime for any repairs that might be needed instead of forcing downtime when the engine fails.

If you have never submitted an oil sample before, the results can look somewhat cryptic.  However, you are not alone.  If you would like to get some explaination of what the report means you have several options.  First, you can give the lab a call.  Depending on which lab you had do the analysis, you  can talk to the lab tech and have them give an explaination.  Oil Analyzers, AMSOIL's lab, are very helpful, and always happy to visit with you about your results.

You can of course send us an e-mail and we will have a look at your results and give you some insight.  The results can often times indicate problems that you may not be aware of.  The good news is, with the oil analysis, you can often catch these while they are minor problems.

Questions regarding oil filters

No, you do not have to use one of the AMSOIL Ea oil filters, however I would highly recommend doing so if there is one available for your vehicle.  The AMSOIL Ea oil filters are the absolute best on the market, with an efficiency of 98.75% at 20 microns, they keep your engine as clean as possible.  They also last as long as the AMSOIL motor oil, if you do use a standard oil filter you will have to change the filter at the given recommendation, normally every 3,000 miles.  This means that if you use a standard filter you will be changing the oil filter and topping off the oil every 3,000 miles, and you will not be getting the level of filtration either.

That being said, if you must use a standard filter, I would highly recommend using the Wix filters, which can be purchased in the online store. They are quality made filters, which will provide good value if an Ea filter is not available for your vehicle, or if you choose to use the XL motor oils.

Questions about synthetic oils

No, synthetics are not any more prone to leaking than petroleum oils. There is a myth that synthetics are thinner, but an oil that is classified as 10W-40 is the same "thickness" whether it is synthetic or petroleum. This myth originates from the fact that synthetics do not thicken up as fast in the extreme cold range, below zero degrees. Where a petroleum based oil will begin to "gel" up, the synthetic will maintain pourability for a much greater range.

Yes! Amsoil products are safe for any mechanically sound vehicle. An older engine will benefit from the anti-wear properties of Amsoil just as much, if not more, as a new engine will.

Both a 0W-30 and 5W-30 are what is known as multi-viscosity motor oils.  They are often confusing to people however, in that they are both SAE 30 motor oils at your engine's operating temperature.  The 0w and 5w, or for that matter, 10w and 15w, referr to the oil's performance from the Cold Crank Simulator (CCS) and Mini-Rotary Viscometer (MRV) tests.  Basicly how easy the oil will allow your engine to turn over when it is cold.

However, again at operating temperature, both the 0w-30 and the 5w-30 are SAE 30 motor oils.  So no, the 0w-30 is not thinner than the 5w-30.

No, Amsoil motor oils are completely compatible with petroleum oil, and will not damage your engine, or "lock" you into using Amsoil. That being said, I don't think you will ever want to switch back after giving Amsoil a try.

No, AMSOIL motor oils are motor oils.  It is not an additive that you add to your current oil, but is a replacement for your current motor oil.  Because it is created in the lab, it does not contain the impurities that petroleum motor oils do.  This allows it do do a better job of protecting your engine, and does so for a much longer time than petroleum oils do.

This allows AMSOIL synthetic motor oils to protect your engine for 25,000 miles or 1 year, instead of the 3,000 miles or 3 months like most other oils recommend.

Keep in mind that there is a difference between price and cost.  If you are looking at price (as in price per quart) then yes, AMSOIL is often priced higher than regular petroleum oil.  However, what one needs to keep in mind is the actual cost of the product.  Since AMSOIL is good for 25,000 miles or 1 year, it will last over eight times longer than the "bargain" oils.  So if you do the calculations, AMSOIL will end up costing less than the oil you are using now.  Add on the fact that AMSOIL synthetic lubricants protect your engine better than anything else on the market, AMSOIL is the better deal.

If you would like to see the calculations, send us a e-mail, or register to view the calculations and see for yourself!

The quickest and easiest way to determine recommended AMSOIL lubricants and filters is through the Product Guide.  Product Guides are available for auto/light trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, marine outboards, small engines, and personal watercraft (PWC).  These are the same guides used by AMSOIL Technical Services to make recommendations

Each vehicle manufacturer defines "normal" and "severe" driving conditions for its equipment.  AMSOIL offers its own definitions of normal and severe service in order to provide uniform guidelines and clarity for all AMSOIL customers.

AMSOIL defines servere service for gasoline engines as primarily short trips, (less than 10 miles [16 km]); turbo/supercharged engines; commercial or fleet vehicles; excessive idling; first-time use of AMSOIL synthetic motor oil in a vehicle with more than 100,000 miles; frequent towing, hauling, plowing or driving in dusty conditions.

AMSOIL defines normal service as personal vehicles not operating under severe service.

AMSOIL defines severe service for diesel engines as extensive engine idling, primarily short trips (less than 10 miles [16 km]) or frequent driving in dusty conditions.
