Why would I choose oil analysis when an oil change would be cheaper?

E-mail Print PDF

The reason you would still want to have an analysis done is so you can tell what condition your oil, and indirectly, your engine is in.  If you simply drain and replace the oil, you have no idea of the condition of the engine.

For instance, oil analysis can alert you to problems before they become major issues, often time allowing you to schedule downtime for any repairs that might be needed instead of forcing downtime when the engine fails.
